Gene Ford, guitarist and president of Gene Ford Music

Gene Ford

After growing up playing rock and blues guitar, Gene earned his Classic guitar performance degree from Towson University in Maryland. Gene studied under Ray Chester, chair of guitar at the Peabody Institute.

Gene moved to Nashville and toured with many contemporary christian artists including Rich Mullins.

This led to a ten-year guitar chair with the Nashville Music Award-winning Nashville Mandolin Ensemble, produced by Richard Bennett. Gene also played guitar with the Nashville Mandolin Trio which toured the US and Europe.

He is currently a member of the Mark Sorrells Trio and Lime Aid and his distinctive guitar sounds can be heard around town.

Gene is a Nashville session player, songwriter and has toured with many artists. Most importantly, he has maintained a successful teaching roster, providing highly individualized lessons for beginners and recording artists alike.

Though many students are brought to Gene by producers, recording labels, and other music industry professionals, he considers every student equal in importance, with the capacity to enjoy music at every level of participation.
